Capturing Powerful Women, Special Bonds, and Lasting Memories

This season with my Teen Team, we’ve spent a lot of time talking about powerful women.
Not the kind of power measured by fame or titles, but the kind that quietly changes lives every single day. The women who show up. The women who love deeply, encourage endlessly, and lead by example. The women who make others feel safe, supported, and seen.
As we explored what it truly means to be a powerful woman, I asked each girl one simple question:
Who is a woman you deeply admire and consider powerful?
For this special photoshoot, each teen invited someone who has impacted her life in a meaningful way. What unfolded was so much more than a photoshoot. It became a celebration of connection, strength, resilience, and love.
Mothers. Grandmothers. Sisters. Cousins. Stepmothers. Best friends. Women connected not only by blood, but by the way they show up for one another.
We laughed, danced between shots, and shared stories that brought tears to our eyes. Stories of perseverance, sacrifice, faith, healing, leadership, and unconditional love.
As a photographer who specializes in teen photography, I often say that photographs grow more valuable with time. But this session felt especially meaningful. These weren’t just portraits. They were reminders of the people helping shape these girls into who they are becoming.
With today being Mother’s Day, it feels like the perfect time to share these stories and images that will be treasured for years to come. Because the most powerful women are often the ones closest to us.
The Stories Behind the Photos
Rylee + Her Mom
Rylee chose her mom because, as she shared, “She has shown me who to be as a person and not to be afraid of anything I do.” Their session was filled with trust, confidence, laughter, and so much love.
Chloe + Her Grandma
Chloe brought her grandmother because she has helped strengthen and guide her faith journey. Their bond was quiet, graceful, and incredibly meaningful to witness.
Summer + Her Grandmother
Summer chose her grandmother because of her incredible resilience through cancer and the unwavering love she continues to show her family every day. Summer shared that her grandmother taught her what true courage, strength, and perseverance look like.
Teagan + Her Mom
Teagan chose her mom, a hardworking salon owner who has shown her the value of leadership, determination, and confidence. You could see how proud Teagan is of the woman her mother is.
Paisley + Her Cousin
Paisley invited her cousin, Mady, because she has always looked up to her and knows she can always count on her. Their session felt effortless, fun, and full of genuine friendship.
Mackenzie + Her Mom
Mackenzie chose her mom because she has shaped her into the person she is today through love, guidance, and countless everyday sacrifices.
Grace + Britney
Grace chose Britney because she constantly encourages and supports her while helping her grow in her relationship with the Lord. Their connection was rooted in faith, encouragement, and trust.
Keegan + Her Mom
Keegan described her mother as one of the strongest people she knows—physically, emotionally, and mentally. She admires how hard her mom works every day while still giving everything she has to her family.
Emma + Her Grandmother
Emma chose her grandmother because she has always inspired her and reminds her so much of herself. Their bond carried such warmth, comfort, and familiarity.
Addy + Her Sister
Addy chose her sister because she has always looked up to her. Their session beautifully reflected the closeness, admiration, and friendship they share.
Haleigh + Her Mom
Haleigh chose her mom because she is her biggest supporter and constantly encourages her to become the best version of herself.
Kyleigh + Her Best Friend
Kyleigh brought her best friend Kendyl because, in her words, “She is super awesome sauce!” She shared how much advice and support her friend gives her and how much better she makes her life.
Allison + Her Sister
Allison chose her sister to celebrate the special bond they share. Their session was full of laughter, comfort, and the kind of connection only sisters understand.
Mia + Her Mom
Mia chose her mom because she is one of the strongest people she knows and is always there for her no matter what.
Emma + Her Stepmom Amber
Emma chose her stepmom, Amber, who has helped her navigate the loss of her mother. Their relationship was such a beautiful reminder that motherhood is defined by love, support, and showing up.
Ellie + Her Mom
Ellie chose her mom because she inspires her to dream big and persevere through hard things with strength and grace. She described her as her biggest inspiration.
Sadie + Her Little Sister
Sadie brought her little sister because she admires her dedication and strength in sports. Even though she’s younger, Sadie shared that she truly looks up to her, proving that inspiration doesn’t always come from older role models.
These sessions were emotional, joyful, and unforgettable. More than anything, they reminded all of us that powerful women don’t have to be famous to change lives. Sometimes they’re simply the women standing right beside us.
